The terms, in plain language

Who provides the service

Discipology is provided by New Breed Ministries, a nonprofit recognized by the IRS under section 501(c)(3). Our mailing address is 5942 Edinger Ave, Suite 113, PMB 215, Huntington Beach, CA 92649. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean New Breed Ministries. "You" means the person reading this and using Discipology.

By texting MAKE or JOHN to our number, filling in a form on discipology.com, or using the Discipology app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What the service is

Discipology is a 52-day disciple-making journey. Each morning you get one text with one small step and a link to a ten-minute audio guide. For the first 28 days you train with a fellow believer, the Two. For the next 24 days the two of you read the Gospel of John with a friend you invite, the Who. The app at discipology.com keeps track of your days, your steps and your reflections.

The journey is free. There is no paywall, no upgrade and no paid tier. We are funded by donors. Nothing in these terms asks you to pay for anything.

Who can use it

You need to be 18 or older, or have a parent's or guardian's permission to take part.

We send texts to United States mobile numbers only. People outside the United States can read the website, but we can't text them, and the journey runs on the texts.

Your phone number and your account

Your mobile number is your account. There is no password. Links in your daily texts open the app already signed in, so keep your phone secure and don't forward those links to anyone else.

You may only enroll a number you control. Never sign someone else up. The friend you invite joins by texting JOHN plus your invite code from their own phone; that text is their own choice and their own consent. We won't add anyone to the journey who didn't ask for it themselves.

How to treat the service and each other

The journey works because three people trust each other. So:

• Be kind. Don't harass, threaten or pressure anyone you meet through Discipology, and don't use the service to send anything unlawful.
• Be yourself. Don't pretend to be another person, another church, or us.
• Use it as intended. Don't scrape the website, probe the app for weaknesses, send automated traffic, or try to reach data that isn't yours.
• Keep your personal invite code for the one friend it's for. Don't post it in public. (Church codes are made to be announced.)

If you break these rules we can pause or end your access (see "Ending your use" below).

What you write and record

Along the way you may write reflections, complete the SHALOM Star check-in, and record a short voice memo telling your story. All of that is yours. You keep ownership of everything you write or record.

To run the service we need your permission to store it and to show it to the people the product is designed to show it to. Your training partner sees your day number and whether you completed each step. The partner who approves your voice memo hears the memo. Church leaders running Discipology with their congregation see their church's totals and members. We never show your reflections or your memo to the public. The details are in our privacy policy.

If someone else appears in what you write or record, get their okay first.

Texts

Texting is how Discipology reaches you: up to one text per day for 52 days, two on the day you invite a friend, a confirmation when your friend joins, plus replies to your keywords. Reply STOP at any time to cancel and HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Our texts never sell anything and never ask for money. The full rules are in our SMS terms.

Giving

Gifts to Discipology are voluntary. You will never be asked to give in order to use the journey, and we never ask for money by text. If you do give, the payment is processed by Stripe under Stripe's own terms; we don't see or store your card number.

If you gave by mistake, or changed your mind, write to hello@discipology.com within 30 days of the gift and we'll refund it.

The audio

The daily audio guides are produced by Through the Word and belong to them. We link to their app; we don't host or resell their content. When you follow one of those links you are using Through the Word's service under their terms.

The Discipology book and journal are published separately and are not part of this service.

What we can't promise

We work hard to send every text on time and keep the app running, but we can't guarantee it. Texts can be delayed or lost by carriers, and the app may be down for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. The service is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind.

Discipology is a tool for making disciples with two other people. It is not professional counseling, medical care or legal advice, and the SHALOM Star is a self-assessment, not medical or professional advice.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, New Breed Ministries is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from your use of the service, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you have given us in the twelve months before the claim, if anything. Some places don't allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law permits.

Ending your use

You can stop at any time: reply STOP to end the texts, or write to hello@discipology.com to have your data removed. When you ask us to delete your data, we blank your name, email and journey content. We keep the record of your consent and your STOP so we can prove we honored them, as the carriers require.

We can pause or end your access if you break these terms or if we have to shut the service down.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change matters to how you use the service, we'll tell you before it takes effect. Carrying on after that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, where New Breed Ministries is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
