Who we are

Discipology is a ministry of New Breed Ministries, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the United States. When this policy says "we", it means New Breed Ministries. When it says "you", it means anyone who uses this site or the journey: a person who texts MAKE, the friend they invite, a pastor, a donor.

We collect as little as we can. Your phone number, where you stand with Jesus, your story and your assessment results are sensitive, and we treat them that way.

What we collect

On the website today

• Your mobile number, if you give it to us on this site to start the 52-day journey by text, and only when you check the consent box yourself. With it we keep a consent record: the time, the exact wording you agreed to, the page you were on, your IP address and your browser type. Carriers treat a text opt-in as proven only when we can show when, from where and with which wording it was given, so we keep those with the number. You can also give us an email address, so we can write once if texting is delayed. We do not ask for your name.
• A pastor's launch request: name, church, role, email, an optional phone number, the size of the congregation, timing and a message. We also keep the IP address and browser type, which is how the site refuses spam.
• A message you send from the contact page: your email, your name if you give it, and the message. We email it to ourselves and do not store it on this site. We also keep your IP address for 7 days, to stop one computer from sending hundreds of messages.
• An email address for the SHALOM waitlist, so we can say when the assessment opens. One email when it opens; the address is deleted within 90 days after that.
• Your SHALOM Star answers and scores, if you take the free assessment on this site: your sixty answers, your six scores and the overall band, when you started and finished, and a private link to your results. The link is the only way back to your Star; we keep only a scrambled copy of it, so nobody can rebuild it from our database. We also keep your IP address for 7 days, to stop one computer from starting hundreds of assessments.
• An email address or a mobile number with your Star, only if you type one at the end. Both are optional. If you leave an email, we send your Star once: the email carries your scores, a picture of your Star, your private link and a PDF report. We build the report when you or the email asks for it and keep no copy; anyone with your private link can download it too. A mobile number, with the consent box checked, is the same sign-up as the first bullet and follows the same rules.
• A donation record, if you give: the Stripe session, the amount, the currency, whether the gift repeats, your email and the payment status. Stripe handles the card. We do not store card details.
• Page views, without cookies. We see that a page was opened, not who opened it.

What we do not collect on the website: your name on the text sign-up or the SHALOM Star, your faith status, your precise location (we keep your IP address for the periods below and guess your time zone from your area code, nothing finer), anything about the friend you plan to invite, and nothing at all from links that are not live yet. Submissions our spam filter catches are not stored.

Tracking. We don't track you across other sites, and no advertising network or other company collects information about what you do here over time. Because there is nothing to switch off, we don't change anything when your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.

When the journey app opens

The 52-day journey runs on a private app at this domain. When those features open, the app will also keep, for your own journey:

• Your progress: the day you are on, whether you checked off each day's Microstep, and any reflection you type as an Aha Moment.
• Your time zone, so the morning text lands in your morning. We infer it from your area code and you can change it in the app.
• Your SHALOM Star results, in the app on Day 14, or on this website if you take it there.
• Your Day 21 voice memo, a three-minute story you record for your Two (the friend you train with) to hear, only if you record one. It lives in private storage and can only be played through links that expire.

When you text a keyword to our number, we also keep the keyword, the time and the message ID our texting service assigns, as the record of your opt-in.

How we use it

• To send you one text each morning with the day's Microstep and a link to the audio, once texting is live.
• To connect you with your Two and, later, your Who (the friend you invite), so the three of you are on the same page on the same day.
• To answer a pastor who asked us to start a launch conversation.
• To tell you when the SHALOM Star opens, if you asked.
• To show you your SHALOM Star, send it to you if you ask, and see where people stop partway, so we can make the assessment clearer.
• To thank donors, send receipts and keep the books straight.
• To keep spam off the site and to prove to the carriers that you asked for our texts.

We never sell your personal information, and we never share it with anyone for their own marketing or advertising. We never have. The companies listed under Service providers work for us and may use your information only to run our service.

Text messages

We do not share, sell, rent or provide your mobile phone number or your text-message opt-in consent to third parties, affiliates or lead generators for marketing or promotional purposes. The only companies that ever handle your number are the ones that store our database and deliver our texts for us (Supabase and Twilio), and they may use it for nothing else.

How you opt in. You opt in by texting MAKE to our number, or by entering your mobile number on discipology.com and checking a box that is unchecked until you check it. A friend joins your group by texting JOHN plus your invite code themselves, after you invite them; we never add a number someone else gave us, and we never text a friend before they text us. Consent is not a condition of any purchase or donation.

How often we text. Up to 1 message per day for 52 days; on the invite day up to 2; plus replies to your keywords, a confirmation when your friend joins, and a one-time confirmation text if you signed up on the website before texting launched.

Message and data rates may apply.

To stop: reply STOP to any text and the texts end at once. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE and OPT OUT do the same, and so does any reply that plainly says you want us to stop, like "please stop texting me". You can also email hello@discipology.com; we honor that within ten business days at most, usually the same day. You get one text confirming you are out, then nothing more from us: no daily text, no reminder, no "your friend joined" note, no "reply YES" check. Reply START, UNSTOP or YES to rejoin later.

The service works on major US carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Who can see what

Today:

• Your browser never talks to our database. Only our server does, and the only thing it will show a visitor is a SHALOM Star reached through its private link.
• A short allowlist of administrators, signed in by email, can read what the site collects.
• When you send a form, one notification email reaches our inbox with the last four digits of your number, a pastor's details, or your contact-page message with your email and name.
• Your SHALOM Star results page can be seen by anyone who has its private link. It shows your scores, never your email or number, and search engines are told not to list it. Keep the link to yourself.
• The service providers below process data under their own terms.

When the journey app opens:

• You see your own data.
• Your Two sees your day number and whether you did each day's Microstep. The partner who approves your Day 21 story can hear your voice memo. Nobody else can.
• A church leader sees totals for their church and the members who joined through it.
• Administrators are an explicit allowlist, and the database itself enforces every one of these rules.

How long we keep it

• A number you saved before texting launched: until we enroll you when texting starts. If your sign-up is more than 90 days old by then, we send one text asking you to reply YES. If you do not reply within 30 days, we mark the sign-up expired and clear the number, the IP address and the browser type 30 days after that.
• The IP address and browser type on a consent record: as long as the consent itself, because carriers can ask for proof while you are subscribed. They are cleared with the record.
• A pastor's launch request: 24 months after we last hear from you, unless your church launched, in which case it becomes your church's record.
• SHALOM waitlist emails: until the assessment opens, plus 90 days.
• A SHALOM Star you started and did not finish: 7 days, then deleted.
• A finished SHALOM Star with no email or number: 180 days, then deleted.
• A finished SHALOM Star with an email or number: 24 months, then deleted.
• The private link to your Star: 180 days after you finish. If you left an email, ask us after that and we'll send a fresh link for as long as your Star is kept. If you left nothing, your Star is deleted at the same time and nothing remains to find.
• Your sixty answers: 180 days after you finish, then deleted. The six scores stay for the periods above.
• The IP address on a SHALOM Star: 7 days.
• The IP address on a contact-page message: 7 days.
• Donation records: 7 years, because they are financial records.
• Your Day 21 voice memo: 90 days after your group graduates, unless you choose to keep it.
• The notification email we get when you send a form: kept in our mailbox under its own retention, not in the database.
• Spam: never stored.

Service providers

We use a handful of companies to run the site. Each one works for us and may use your information only to provide its service to us. Through the Word is different: it is a site we link to.

• Vercel hosts the website and counts page views without cookies. It sees what any web host sees while a page loads: your IP address and browser type.
• Supabase holds our database, so it holds everything this page lists, plus the private storage for voice memos.
• Twilio sends and receives the texts. It gets your mobile number and the words of each text, and keeps its own record of your STOP as a second safeguard.
• Resend sends our email. It gets the address we write to and the email itself. For a SHALOM Star email, that means your scores, the picture of your Star, your private link and the PDF report, which Resend keeps for a short period of its own.
• Stripe handles donations. Your card details go to Stripe and never to us. Stripe gives us your email, the amount and the payment status.
• Google runs our mailbox and the Drive folder where our backups are kept. A copy of the notification emails and of the database lives there, under the same rules as the original.
• Through the Word provides the ten-minute daily audio. We link to it and send them nothing about you. When you open a link, you are on their site under their policy.

Your choices

• Stop the texts: reply STOP. Reply START if you change your mind.
• Get help: reply HELP, or email us.
• Change your time zone or send time: in the app, when those features open.
• See or fix your data: email us from the address or number you used and we'll send you what we hold on it, or correct it. We answer within 30 days.
• Ask us to delete your data: email hello@discipology.com from the address or number you used, or send us the private link to your SHALOM Star if that is all we have. We fulfill this by anonymizing: we blank your name, email and journey content. The phone number itself stays, with its consent record and its STOP record, because that is the proof the carriers require that we honored your wishes. It cannot be used to text you.

Children

The journey is for adults. If you are under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission, as our terms say. This site and the texts are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us a number or an email, tell us and we will remove it.

Changes

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects what we collect or who can see it, we post a notice on this page and on the home page before it takes effect.
